Lafayette Ballet Company: Swan Lake

For the first time in it’s history, Lafayette Ballet Company will present a full-length, family-friendly version of ballet’s most famous work, Swan Lake, to the iconic score by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky.  First presented by the Bolshoi Ballet in 1877 it was revived by choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov in 1895 for the Imperial Ballet at the Marinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia.  It is from this historic production that most companies including Lafayette Ballet base their staging.  The ballet tells the story of Odette the Swan Queen, Prince Siegfried, the Evil Sorcerer Von Rothbart and his daughter Odile.   Good triumphs over evil in this mystical tale of beauty, passion and magic.
